COPYRIGHT FOR BEGINNERS
17 May 2007, Glasgow

This introduction to copyright law begins with the basic principles and concepts of copyright law, and ends with the copyright clearance process in order to obtain the necessary permissions. There is also plenty of time throughout the day to discuss any unresolved issues.

BENEFITS OF ATTENDING
By the end of the day participants will have a good understanding of copyright and its various exceptions and limitations. They will know how to provide a service without breaking copyright law and be aware of the issues arising when one is not able to identify or locate the copyright owner.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
Anyone affected by copyright issues in a library and information setting will benefit from this course. It is aimed at those with little knowledge of copyright, but it would
also be of use to anyone wanting a refresher course in this fast-developing field.

COURSE LEADER: PAUL PEDLEY
Paul is Head of Research at the Economist Intelligence Unit. He is a member of the Libraries and Archives Copyright Alliance, and a visiting Professor at London
Metropolitan University. Paul has written a number of books published by Facet Publishing.
