I bought the Falcon 4210 direct from America (via ebay) I see they cost about £120 at the moment and are obtainable in this country. They are a real bargain. I bought a number of similar devices of different makes which included a cipherlab terminal, a psion workabout, and a couple of others, but I settled on the Falcon as the only one for a very good reason. Our library barcode symbology is Telepen and most of those machines don't work with it!! Not every barcode scanner works with every barcode symbology. I had to write a little program - or more an adaptation of what came with it - to do the scanning. I was told that it had taken the entire summer holidays to scan the stock in the past - but it took us two weeks using two of these scanners - I bought three but mostly 2 were used at once - not 3. It saved it to an ASCII (Text) file which was then loaded to the PC and run against our library database (OLIB). As I said, the Cipherlab didn't read Telepen symbology.
