The Yorkshire Universities Information Skills Group will be running a joint
workshop with the CILIP CSG Information Literacy Group on Tuesday 22nd May at
the University of Sheffield. 

The workshop is entitled 'Embedding information literacy in the curriculum'. It
is aimed at library staff who are just starting to teach information literacy,
although may be of interest to more experienced staff. 

Programme:

10.00 Registration and coffee

10.30 Introduction and welcome – David Pennie, Chair of YUISG

10.35	Welcome to CILASS –  Lyn Parker, University of Sheffield

10.45	IL, what is it and why is it important? Debbi Boden, Imperial College and
Ruth Stubbings, Loughborough University

11.30	Group activity - What do we mean by embedding, why is it important?

11.40	Coffee

12.00	Why embed IL? -  an academic’s perspective 
Aidan While, Director of Undergraduate Teaching in Town and Regional
Planning, University of Sheffield including an activity on barriers and drivers
to embedding IL

13.00 Lunch

14.00	Does the subject make a difference?  Sarah Taylor, University of Leeds,
Vic Grant, University of Sheffield and Ellie Clement, University of Bradford

14.30	Group activity - What are the key issues for success, are they the same
for all subjects, if not, why not?

14.45	A success story from the University of Leeds, Angela Newton

15.30 Refreshments and plenary session 

16.00 Close


Fee: £35 plus £5.95 VAT (£30 + £5.25 VAT for CSG IL members).  Lunch and
refreshments provided
