Hi Carol, Hugh and others,

It is great to see a discussion in relation to running a peer assisted study
event/conference. It seems that there are a number of institutions running
similar schemes as well as lots of interest in developing peer led activity.

Like Bournemouth, here at the University of Manchester we coordinate a very
large PASS programme and last year trained 140 leaders to support first year
students in a range of disciplines. We have been running PASS for more than a
decade and are always keen to share good practice and exchange ideas.

Some of you may know that for many years there was a UK/Ireland Supplemental
Instruction network which met regularly and organised training and staff events
as well as an annual student conference. The network linked to International
practice and supported quality assurance of schemes through a certified
trainer. Perhaps there is a need to establish regional networks? We would be
happy to organise a meeting in Manchester if there is enough interest.

Best Wishes,
Marcia
