Re: Dylexia Tutors in HE
Hi everyone,

Here in Hull, the Study Advice Service is currently part of the Centre for Learning Development but the type of work we do with students means that it operates as a separate unit.  There are moves afoot to amalgamate us with Student Support Services which cover inter alia Disabilities, Careers, Welfare, Loans & Hardship.  Reading the recent messages seems to suggest it is becoming a nationwide trend...

As someone has pointed out, there are inherent dangers in this from the perspective of students, who may come to regard us (and themselves) in a negative light.

Is there some kind of management or basic human need to fit everything into a category or hierarchy?  Or is it that some free-floating entity looks untidy on paper?
