Subject: Maritime Archaeology Access and Learning Workshops

Dear Colleague

The Hampshire and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology are delighted to announce that we have received funding from English Heritage through the Aggregates Levy Sustainability fund to run free Maritime Archaeology Access and Learning Workshops in 2007 and 2008. These workshops will run free of charge, including accommodation, and are open to anyone! The only contribution participants are asked to make is to buy their own evening meal.

We would suggest the following people might find them useful:

The workshops will encourage the sharing of ideas and best practice in events and activity planning. HWTMA staff will be on hand to demonstrate their ideas for activities and specialists will be running sessions on themes ranging from event photography to writing a good risk assessment. The residential aspect will encourage networking and will hopefully help to spark some exciting new outreach projects.

The first workshop will be held on the 25th – 26th July 2007 at Sandown, Isle of Wight, a second workshop is planned for February 2008. A mini bus pick up will be available from Southampton. For more information please contact Alison Hamer or Rebecca Causer at HWTMA. Feel free to forward this to any colleagues who might be interested,

Best wishes
