Many banks offer career development loans,
but I have heard that some of them refuse to give the loan because they don’t
think that the archives course is vocational (and won’t be convinced
otherwise). You are also no longer
eligible for a student loan for most post graduate study. It’s all very well saying that people
should simply ‘get on with it’, but if no one will even lend you
the money, how are you supposed to?

Presumably
you don't want to increase your debt, but it may well be worth thinking of
doing so by means of a career development loan - see
