Subject: Repair and preservation of seals

Hello everyone,

I'm interested in finding out what the current thinking is on the repair and
preservation of seals.
We have a collection of seals in Sheffield (great or Royal seals in
particular) that are fragmentary and are housed in unsuitable packaging.
My question is how do organisations/institutions approach their own
collections containing this material?
Are you going down the line of preservation packaging with minimal "hands
on" intervention, or what other methods and applications are you employing
to repair your seals?

Any information you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Best wishes,

Antony Oliver
