It's so expensive because its not aimed at people who work in pathology: The website says:

Understanding the business of pathology
All NHS services increasingly need to be run as businesses. Especially pathology services, where the future may well be as stand alone business units. This event will help you understand the business mechanics of pathology services and enhance your business skills.

This conference is designed for asset strippers and sweat shop operators to evaluate whether they should borrow from their friendly neighbourhood vulture-capitalist to set up pathology sheds on the ring road... To them £465 is peanuts [much the same as they will be paying their staff if they get their own way.

In these days of financial restraint, who can afford a 1 day conference on Driving Pathology Modernisation (Earls Court) with a fee of £464.13!

It sound interesting but the cost is far too high, especially as it sponsored by Roche. If you can justify the expenditure let us all know what is was about!
