C -----Original Message----- From: Social History Curators Group email list [mailto:[log in to unmask]]On Behalf Of Wareham, Tom Sent: 27 February 2007 17:29 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [SHCG-LIST] Object identification Can anyone help with the date of a trade union badge we have just taken in. (Photos attached) The Badge represents the Amalgamated Stevedores Labour Protection League. This organisation merged with another in 1922, so the implication is that the badge dates from between 1888-1922. The front of the badge appears to be plastic or covered in plastic, while the rear features a stud. What is throwing me is the plastic front. Can anyone advise on whether plastic badges like this were being produced in the early 1920s?
