I agree. Peter Naish gave an excellent and engaging talk about Hypnosis at the BA festival in Dublin. He attempted to hypnotise the entire audience (about 300 people), and whilst it didn't work for me, quite a number of people seem to be quite strongly affected. I wouldn't like to comment on whether this was 'real' hypnosis or not, but the talk he gave beforehand was interesting on it's own.

I'm not sure where he is based, as he works for the Open University. Their website says that the School of Social Sciences is based in Milton Keynes, so is not very local to you.
