I remember attempting a longish narrative poem about ten years ago, and getting my knickers in a twist over some structural point or other. Eventually, someone suggested I tackled the problem as though I were writing a novel. Which was clearly the right advice, but made me realise that extended narrative poetry wasn't really what I wanted out of life. Sequence -- now that's a whole 'nother story. joanna
