Yes, it's very fashionable to be snooty about the wiki. Nature compared Wiki articles with Britannica articles, and wiki came out on top wrt accuracy. So it is a legitimate source of information according to Nature. It's an encyclopaedia, not a primary source, so, as in reading Enc Britannica, caution is always welcome.
