2nd Meeting
for Postgraduate Students in History of Science
Barcelona, May 30th - June 2nd
The next Meeting for Postgraduate Students in History of Science will be held
in Barcelona, Spain from Thursday, May 31st, through
Saturday, June 2nd 2007. The Meeting is organised by the Centre d'Estudis
d'Història de les Ciències (CEHIC) at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona,
and supported by the Catalan Society for the History of Science and Technology
(SCHCT), the Spanish Society for the History of Sciences and Technology
(SEHCYT) and the History of Science Department at the institution "Milà i
Fontanals" (CSIC).
The conference is a great opportunity for young researchers in History of
Science, Technology and Medicine, who want to present their research works, and
to discuss historiographical perspectives. Building on the experience of the
successful first meeting held at Valencia, Spain, which was attended by almost
30 postgraduate students and resulted in the publication of two books (one in
English and one in Spanish), the meeting provides an informal and friendly
forum of discussion, in which active participation in the debates is especially
encouraged. Organised by students for students, the meeting is open to
postgraduate students in History of Science, Technology and Medicine and those
who have recently finished their PhD. In order to encourage international
participation, the working language will be English.
The time of presentations should be limited to 15 minutes. Papers may introduce
original research or methodological and historiographical issues. Participants
should submit a short 1-page CV and an abstract of their papers (ca. 350

There will be a 30€ conference fee for all participants, which covers three
lunches and one dinner. The organization will partially fund the accommodation
