Q 1 : Not at all an expert, but I remember there is something in the "Philippide" by William le Breton (XI, verses 538-558) about bishop of Beauvais fighting with a mace (as he was a cleric) at the battle of Bouvins (1214) : I noticed that long time ago and I haven't the latin text under the hand at the moment.
