medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

I am sure at one time or another this sort of thing happens to everyone in
medieval studies--you are so familiar with something that you forget it can be
a new and exciting discovery to someone else.

The Muslims invented Algebra and calculated the movement of the sun around the
earth--yes, mathematically and exactly--it moved in a strange and inticate
patten, yet mathematically precise even though it is much simpler to calculate
how the earth moves around the sun!!

Attached is picture taken two years ago in Fez, Morocco of my wife and I in
front of a fountain. There is an intricately geometric mosaic and above is
carved plaster--another
