Dear Lesley and Peter,

With regards your recent queries relating to Contemporary Economic Policy and Economic Inquiry:

Oxford Journals regrets that as of 31 December 2006, we are not permitted to grant access to the digitised archive of these two journals.

The Western Economic Association International (WEAI) have transferred the publishing rights to Contemporary Economic Policy and Economic Inquiry from Oxford Journals to Blackwell Publishing as of 1 January 2007.

We are still in negotiation with the WEAI, and currently await a decision from them on the ongoing arrangements for access to the digitised archive of their journals. A further announcement will be made as soon as possible. We apologise that this issue has not yet been resolved, and will inform customers of changes to the digital archive as soon as they are confirmed.

In addition we no longer have rights to maintain the online service for current content for Contemporary Economic Policy and Economic Inquiry from 31 December 2006. Electronic files were made available to WEAI and Blackwell in 2006 to continue the provision of online content in 2007. We were not notified by WEAI or Blackwell that the online versions would not be available by 1 Jan 07.

Please note that no other titles have transferred from Oxford Journals for 2007.

We have taken several steps to ensure the stability of the Oxford Journals digital archive for our customers. With the exception of the WEAI titles, all other journals included in the Oxford Journals digital archive are contracted to perpetual archiving, to ensure that customers continue to have access to content they have paid for in the future.

We will ensure further information regarding access to backfiles for Contemporary Economic Policy and Economic Inquiry is made available as soon as possible. Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience.

Kind regards

Mithu

Dear Lesley, Peter et al,

With regard to the removal of Contemporary Economic Policy and Economic Enquiry from the OUP Journal Archive.

On behalf of JISC Collections I would like to apologise for not only the inconvenience this matter is causing but also the lack of prior communication.

JISC Collections has been pursuing this matter with OUP since it was first brought to our attention on Friday evening.

As soon as is possible we will provide a full update to this list.

Dear Lesley

Thanks for telling us about this. It looks like bad news for anybody
moving towards a general policy of disposing of printed back issues where
online versions are available. I trust that JISC, OUP and Blackwell will
respond speedily.

Best wishes

Peter King
