Dear all,
Is there any body have any information regarding the
maritime boundary agreement between Qatar and Saudi
Arabia. There are some reports about an agreement has
been signed in 1999.

Matar

hi friend

the 1999 agreement you mention appears to have covered
only the land boundary
per
http://www.washingtoninstitute.org/templateC05.php?CID=1403
also
http://www.ignfi.fr/england/projets/diversarabiesaoud.htm
&
http://www.washingtoninstitute.org/templateC05.php?CID=2431

however
this agreement seems not to have been consummated
until 2001
when a maritime component may also have been added
per
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A2=ind01&L=int-boundaries&T=0&F=&S=&X=5C29FB06C16572621A&Y=aletheiak%40yahoo.com&P=4740

& according to colson & smith 2005 intl maritime bdys
p3474f
there are unconfirmed reports that the western sector
of the maritime boundary in the dawhat salwa gulf
comprising about 52nm has been agreed
http://books.google.com/books?id=RN0GnOcw0McC&pg=RA134-PA2&lpg=RA134-PA2&dq=colson+smith+qatar&source=web&ots=1glWLa94Z-&sig=Tm-jYpa8MZ62wnr2pLLHBeLL80Y#PRA135-PA2,M1
while the eastern sector in the khawr udayd gulf is
evidently yet to be delimited

i believe this may be so because the land border
terminus is in dispute in the east but not in the west

would love to hear from our maritime experts on this
one tho
who have been strangely silent so far

best wishes
