The reason people worry more about electronic spam is because it's
harder to control the scale. Someone once suggested that every company
that launched an online presence (website etc) should be "allowed" one
unsolicited email to everyone else, to say "hey, look at us, aren't we
clever". Then I pointed out that BT alone was claiming to sign up one
such new customer very five minutes.
