I thinl that this was apauling - I had to become a UK citizen to overcome having to pay for the stamp every 10 years on renewal of my passport.

Subject: Extortion to transfer into new passport `Right to Remain`

Can anyone tell me why, after 11 September, those of us who are permanent residents have to pay every time we want  `indefinite leave to remain` stamped in a new passport.  Previously you could bring along your old passport the airport and the customs officer would transfer your status.

With the new guidelines, it is time-consuming and worse extortionate.  Clearly 11 September should not be an opportunity to people to exploit and make money.

Any comments?
