Dear All,

Is this the Guardian's idea of consultation?

Mind you, my comments haven't even been dignified with a response.

Is it time to resurrect the Heinz Group?

How about a round robin to Donald along the lines of:

"We the undersigned find the Guardian's use of JACs codes to assign HESA
cost centres to be seriously flawed, in that it fails to give a true picture
of academic activity in many areas. We fail to understand why the Guardian
cannot accept the allocation of Guardian subject groups to HESA cost centres
by institutions. This would automatically overcome the problems of lining
up student numbers with staff numbers and expenditure etc. Does
consultation mean consultation - or are you prepared to continue with a
method that many find unnacceptable?"

No apologies for clogging up the group. Who's prepared to go along with
this?

Best wishes,

Brian
