Those of you who have not already followed MKs link to the site, or seen
the BBC/Guardian articles, may be interested to hear that
sciencehorizons was launched to the public yesterday by Minister for
Science and Innovation, Malcolm Wicks, with students from the Royal
College of Art. The students took part in the first of many discussions
about the how science and technology could affect our lives in the next
15-20 years.

As the press release said "Community groups, schools, families and
friends up across the UK are invited to get together, between now and
June, in village halls, classrooms, living rooms and pubs to have their
own sciencehorizons discussions using the free packs. The
sciencehorizons packs use stories, cartoons and a CD-ROM to prompt
discussion. They cover four topics: mind and body, home and community,
work and leisure and people and planet.

Along with the pack, an interactive website stimulates discussion and
debate. Visitors to www.sciencehorizons.org.uk can sign up to receive
packs and run their own discussions, find out about larger
sciencehorizons events across the UK or comment on the sciencehorizons
blog."

If you are based in the UK and are interested in running larger
facilitated public events as part of sciencehorizons, please do get in
touch via [log in to unmask] We can give you tips on
running the events and details of the assistance with marketing,
facilitation and funding we can provide. All events need to take place
before 25th June 2007 in order for the results to be fed back to
government.
