I don't know if the below link is of any interest to others, but peripheral or subliminal vision as a factor contributing to the large number of nervous breakdowns, panic attacks and acute psychotic episodes being reported over the past decade or so seems partly explained by this research. The flashing hard disk light on a computer tower beside a monitor or continuously turning sideways to read from a printed text while the screen is still active (that is not blank) for eight hours a day every day for a month may cause a psychotic breakdown according to this site. I don't know if this site is real, of course. http://visionandpsychosis.net/index.htm
