Apologies for cross-posting Blended learning: servicescapes for the future De Montfort University, Leicester 9 March 2007, 10.00 - 4.00 What will be the impact on our services of new forms of learning and teaching? This one-day conference will explore key areas of knowledge and development for managers of library and information services. Speakers include: Professor Di Martin, Chief Information Officer and Dean of Learning and Information Services, University of Hertfordshire on blended learning, convergence and services Dr Phil Levy, Academic Director, CILASS and Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield on the pedagogy of e-learning and the CILASS CETL Biddy Fisher, Head of Information Services, Sheffield Hallam University on the human resource management challenges and some potential responses Kathryn Arnold, Director of Library Services at De Montfort University on service redevelopment The afternoon tours and workshops will focus on the new £1.7M Learning Zone within the Kimberlin Library at De Montfort University and associated developments. The Learning Zone project was devised and managed within the university, using in-house architects. Alongside physical changes, a number of other initiatives have been introduced, including RFID self-service issue and return, the introduction of proactive roving support from information assistants and new service models. The development will be completed in February 2007, and this event will be the first opportunity for colleagues to view major changes in the servicescape in a university library. Course fee includes lunch and refreshments. The venue The meeting will be held in the Kimberlin Library, De Montfort University, Leicester. There is full disabled access to the building. The University is located on the edge of Leicester city centre, close to main roads, with easy access to the M1 and M69. It is a 15 minute walk to the rail and bus stations. Public car parks are located a few minutes walk away.
