Dear Colleague

With his agreement, the British Library has made available transcripts of diary notes made by Dr Saad Eskander, the Director of the Iraq National Library and Archives, for the months of November and December. These are available at:

http://www.bl.uk/iraqdiary.html

I am not sure that anyone here can possibly appreciate just how perilous and intolerable a situation Dr Eskander and his colleagues are operating under in the interest of keeping the National Library and Archives open.

The British Library has sent a message of support to Dr Eskander. His personal courage - and that of his staff - is an example to all of us in the library and information profession.
