Cultural
and Literary Translation: New Directions
Translation Studies has
now entered the mainstream of academic teaching and research not only in
These aspects of
translation studies, as well as many other related issues, such as versions
(‘transcreations’) vs. ‘faithful’ translations, will be
explored in the Colloquium.

Submission of proposals
Proposals should be about
400 words long, written in English and sent to Dr L. H. Davies at the address
shown below. The deadline for submission is March 31 2007.
Papers should be in
English and intended to last between 20 and 25 minutes (the exact recommended
length will be specified later).
Texts discussed should
have originally been created in a Romance language. Comparative
approaches are welcome.
A selection of papers
given at the Colloquium (and other accepted articles on the Colloquium theme)
will be published in two issues of Romance
Studies to appear in 2008. Published papers may be written in
English, French, Italian or Spanish.
