Dear all
Apologies for cross-postings.
The abstract deadline for the 'Frontiers in Mineral Sciences 2007'
meeting, to be held in Cambridge, 26-28th June 2007, is the
28th of Feburary 2007:

I strongly encourage you to submit abstracts to the session 'Minerals
in Contaminated Environments: Characterization, Stability, Impact'.
Environmental minerals play a significant role in controlling contaminant
(metals, metalloids, organics, nutrients) cycling, through acting as
potential sources via dissolution, and storage media via surface
interactions (adsorption, surface precipitation) or co-precipitation
processes. This session will focus on the following topics pertaining to
environmental minerals: (i) characterization techniques and case studies;
(ii) structures, crystallinities and stabilities; (iii) mechanisms of
incorporation of contaminants; and (iv) impacts on the natural
environment. We have three exciting keynote speakers lined up for
the session:
Danielle Fortin, University of Ottawa, Canada
Tom Trainor, University of Alaska Fairbanks, USA
David Vaughan, University of Manchester, UK
Please send your abstracts and register on the above web site, or get in
touch with me or any of the other convenors for more information
