In this challenging role, you will give training & support to digital community archives groups. Working face-to-face with local groups, you will help them to digitise, organise and share their local history material.

* Based in Aberystwyth (Welsh lang. Desirable, Salary: £22,102) * Fixed term: April 2007 - March 2008 * Flexible working hours: 37 hrs per week

In this challenging and fulfilling role you will develop the Community Archives Wales CMS and website to meet community groups' needs. You will write technical guidelines and support the community groups with their ICT hardware and software. You will work face-to-face with between six and nine community groups across Wales.

What are digital community archives?

Digital community archives are digitsed collections of material that epitomise a community's understanding of its identity and history. The material is usually local or family history material from private collections.

What is Community Archives Wales?

Community Archives Wales : helping communities bridge the digital divide Community Archives Wales (CAW) is a digital inclusion initiative which enables digital community archives within Communities First areas throughout Wales. It is a 15 month pilot project, starting in January 2007.
  
Partners in the project include Culturenet Cymru; The National Library of Wales; the Archives Services of Glamorgan, West Glamorgan; and Swansea University and the South Wales Miners Library.  The project is funded by Communities @One, an initiative of the Welsh Assmebly Government.
