UCU/UNISON Disability equality duty training

Dear All,

Please find below information about training that UCU/UNISON is running on disability equality. If you would like to know more please get in touch.

Thanks

Sian

This one day training course is provided for officers and representatives of UCU and UNISON. Participation is encouraged from all areas of the college and not confined to Equality Officers. The course is open to members and non-members of UCU and UNISON. It is free for people to attend. Please see the attached agenda.

New laws from December 2006 placed a public duty on public bodies to promote disability equality. By December 4th every college should have published a Disability Equality Scheme and an Action Plan with regards to eliminating disability discrimination and promoting equal opportunities for disabled people.

This one day training course will look at implementing, evaluating, monitoring and enforcing disability equality, how to progress work around disability equality and how colleges can continue to involve disabled people.

The course forms a part of the ongoing DfES Disability Equality Project which is looking to ensure full implementation of the Disability Equality Duty. The project is managed by the Centre for Excellence in Leadership.
