Peter,

One small thought on this...

Wikis are a wonderful addition to the suite of course/group tools, but in this context they have to be tightly integrated with the user enrolments and user roles.
I doubt you will find any other third party wiki service that is integrated with the Bb module enrolments and groups.
Without this integration you will be duplicating all your procedures for managing groups and enrolments and passing authentication between the tools is likely to be clunky.

Subject: Blogs and Wikis

OK this probably is not the right place to ask but bear with me please.

We had a brief look at Learning Objects for Blogs and Wikis within Blackboard but there was a perceived requirement for something that sat outside of the VLE and could be used for things that our BB licence did not seem to cover. In an ideal world I would like to access it from the VLE as well rather than have two different systems.

Has anyone got any recommendations for a wiki service that either is reasonably low in admin/setting up to run internally or an external host that can be effectively "branded".  It does of course go without question that it has to work well :-)

Any suggestions gratefully received

Peter
