Dear colleagues,

Our local policy is to routinely test all urine samples for nitrite adulteration.

We have been doing this for about 2 years and have never identified an adulterated sample.
The test we use is run in the Abbott Architect and is quite expensive. Given our zero pick up rate I am inclined to drop this practice and save some money but before I do this I would be very interested to know what other drugs of abuse testing labs do regarding nitrite, or other adulteration checks.

I will post a summary of responses in due course,

Best wishes
