Have any of you managed to implement an appeals process for your ethics committee (as referred to in the ESRC RGF)?
I have been struggling with this for some time. The major problem as I see it is that our University REC is a working committee and deals routinely with higher risk/impact research. Therefore, it can't be used to handle appeals and there is no other body within the University that has the appropriate blend of expertise and seniority.
I have approached our local NHS REC with a request that they consider allowing us to invite two or more of their members on to an appeals panel and am awaiting a response.
Any potential solutions gratefully received!
