Johanna

I've noted your new colleagues addresses.  Can I suggest that you encourage them to join the EFTC discussion list?  I'm attaching a flyer for the list which you might like to display in De Speigel.  The EFTC list is a major resource for the Federation but at the moment, we are in the slightly embarassing position of having more non-EFTC members than EFTC members!

Please encourage your staff to join - it's open to residents, Board members, ex-residents etc. too.  The more members we have the livelier the debate and the more effective it becomes as a communication resource.  There are details of how to join the EFTC discussion list on the EFTC website at:

MessageDear colleagues
I want to use the opportunity of getting all your e-adresses to ask you to add more addresses to the list. You'll find them in CC.
As I am going to retire from my job as clinical director of TC De Spiegel in Belgium on 1/5/07, Johan Buttiens and Anja Schillebeeks are going to take over the job. Johan will be the director and is is a ortho pedagogue. Anja is a psychologist-psychotherapist and will be the co-director. Paul Van Deun is the general director of De Spiegel and you might have seen him running in San Francisco some years ago during the WFTC conference.
I shall still be active in my private practice though and open to contact and exchange with you.
I also want to use this opportunity to send you my best wishes for a nice Christmas time and a very happy new year.
Johanna Martens, PhD.
Director TC De Spiegel, Belgium

Please use always my permanent address [log in to unmask] or my temporary address johanna.martens @skynet.be

Subject: EFTC Biennial Conference, Ljubljana, Slovenia

  Dear Listmembers

This is a further reminder that the European Federation of Therapeutic Communities will hold its biennial conference from 6 - 9 June 2007 in the lovely and historic city of Ljubljana:

  http://www.eftc-europe.com/conferentie/

  There are four conference themes:

Therapeutic Communities - Working with the Criminal Justice System
Therapeutic Communities - Not Just Addictions
Therapeutic Communities - Families and Communities
Therapeutic Communities - Contributors to Change

All within an overall theme of exploring the role of the TC in working in partnership.  The programme is beginning to take shape and we will be adding a provisional outline programme to the website in the next few weeks as invited speakers confirm their attendance.

You may also be interested to know that the Abstract Form can now be downloaded in both PDF (for hardcopy completion) and Word document (for on-screen completion).

Friends in the TC movement may also wish to nominate an individual for the EFTC Award.  On-line nomination forms are also available on the conference website.  The award is presented at each conference to the individual thought by EFTC members and others to have made a significant contribution to the TC movement.  Each award is individually handcrafted by the Belgian sculptor, Kattie Verheggen. Previous recipients of the award have been Donald Ottenburg (2001), Martien Kooyman (2003) and George De Leon (2005).

We look forward to welcoming you to Ljubljana next year.
