Caring for our Collections

The Culture, Media and Sport Committee announced on 25 July a new inquiry
into the heritage sector - Caring for our Collections. 

The Committee is particularly interested in the following issues:

	*       Funding, with particular reference to the adequacy of the
budget for museums, galleries and archives, and the impact of the London
2012 Olympics on Lottery funding for their sector; 

	*       Acquisition and disposal policies with particular reference
to due diligence obligations on acquisition and legal restrictions on
disposal of objects

	*       The remit and effectiveness of DCMS, the Museums, Libraries
and Archives Council and other relevant organisations in representing
cultural interests inside and outside Government.

The Committee will hold its third oral evidence session at the House of
Commons in the Grimond Room,  Portcullis House on Tuesday 19 December at
10.30am.
