And, on a less elevated literary plane, there is a delightful and immediate
description of the procession in Mary Stewart's novel, "This Rough Magic."
The author had obviously done her field work at the right season, the whole
passage has the ring of being there about it. She is also very good on the
local attitude to Spyridon, who is obviously still a very strong presence on
the island.
