Assistant Records Manager, Buckingham Palace
£20,000 to £24,000, two year fixed-term contract
You will be responsible for project managing the appraisal of non-current
records for transfer to the Royal Archives at Windsor Castle, requiring
close liaison with a wide range of individuals from across this diverse
organisation. You will also assist with FOI administration and with the
implementation of the Household’s records management programme.
The post would suit an individual with a recognised qualification in records
management and archive administration who is looking to take on their
first line-management post. Appraisal and archive knowledge, IT skills and
a rigorous, organised approach are prerequisite. A strong communicator
with negotiation and analytical skills, you will have the opportunity
to make a significant contribution within this stimulating and unique
environment. A UK driving licence would be desirable.
Assistant Archivist, Windsor Castle
£21,000 pro rata, ten month fixed-term contract
The Royal Archives are responsible for preserving the official and personal
archives of the Sovereign and of Members of The Royal Family, and the
administrative records of the Royal Household and private estates, and for
ensuring these are made available to Members of the Royal Family, internal
departments and the general public.
You will provide general support to the archives team; deal with enquiries
from the Royal Household and the general public; and assist with the
preparation of data for transfer to a new electronic cataloguing system.
You should hold a degree, ideally in modern history, a post-graduate
qualification in Archives Administration and have a good understanding of
current archive IT systems. Good communication skills, initiative, discretion
and a logical, methodical approach are also required. A UK driving licence
would be desirable.
