Subject: Reaching out to Looked After Children - Tackling Social Exclusion

Reaching Out to Looked After Children
Tackling Social Exclusion
One Day Conference
Wednesday 13th December 2006 - Central London
Looked After Children are some of the most vulnerable people in our society. They often have complex needs and require support from a range of agencies and organisations.
With the launch of Reaching Out: An Action Plan on Social Exclusion and the publication of the Children in Care Green Paper there is a renewed drive to tackle social exclusion, intervene in cases of poor mental health, behaviour and low self esteem and raise educational achievement while reducing youth offending.
With the onus on Local Authorities to move away from ‘treatment’ to ‘prevention’ the focus is now, more than ever before, on early intervention.
Attend this timely, in-depth Capita conference to consider some of the ways to identify those children at risk, support them to overcome the many barriers they face and prevent them from falling into the cycle of exclusion
