oh no, Kent, Jerry Rothenberg is now given as at "over
seventy," (which, admittedly includes his translations &
collaborations, but given that several of tthose come to over 800
pages a volume, they should count...), Robert Kelly at "more than
fifty" books of poems, exclusing essays and fiction volumes (another
ten, at least, with more than the same amount of writing through the
genres remaining unpublished); Clark Coolidge is at way "over thirty"
books; Ted Enslin (I have some 32 of his books, which seems to be the
tip of the iceberg) and Cid Corman I wouldn't even try to guess at.
In England, Allen Fisher has over a hundred publications (given, many
of them are chapbook length). Anne Waldman is at "more than forty,"
and Alice Notley ar 30-some. beyond poetry, this summer I learned in
paris that Galilée will soon start to bring out the collected
lectures & writings of Derrida and have projected 40 volumes (some
will duplicate existing books). His opus may eventually be larger
than Heidegger's, whose Gesammelte Werke now stand at some 100
volumes. That's just the firstfew that come to mind, though I must
say that I have always loved hanging out with poets for whom writing
poetry/translations/ essays/fiction/ whatever was a daily necessity
or vow. The very idea of "an acceptable number of books" seems
aberrant to me
