Anyone who has attended any training
workshops on e-books that Ray Lonsdale and I run (such as those for UKeiG) will
have had the opportunity to examine the iRex iLiad e-book reader. Details at: http://www.irextechnologies.com/.
Although this is slightly larger than the
Sony, it has considerably more functionality (such as a notepad and the ability
to store your own documents as well as e-books and e-newspapers/e-journals). Like
the Sony, it also uses eInk technology, which gives a near print-on-paper
reading experience and a long battery life.
The iLiad will hold up to 200 e-books,
although this number will go down if many newspapers – with memory-hungry
images – are stored.
