Anyone who has attended any training workshops on e-books that Ray Lonsdale and I run (such as those for UKeiG) will have had the opportunity to examine the iRex iLiad e-book reader. Details at: http://www.irextechnologies.com/. Although this is slightly larger than the Sony, it has considerably more functionality (such as a notepad and the ability to store your own documents as well as e-books and e-newspapers/e-journals). Like the Sony, it also uses eInk technology, which gives a near print-on-paper reading experience and a long battery life. The iLiad will hold up to 200 e-books, although this number will go down if many newspapers - with memory-hungry images - are stored. The iLiad is produced by IRex, which is an offshoot of Philips.
