AUSTRALIAN COMMUNITY PSYCHOLOGIST Call for Papers: Special Issue on Applied Research Methodologies Editors: Lauren Breen (Edith Cowan University) and Dawn Darlaston-Jones, PhD (University of Notre Dame, Australia) Community psychologists have a history of exploring methodologies that allow their research and/or practice to reflect the applied nature of their work. As such, a special issue devoted to applied methodologies and their use in, or relevance to, community psychology will be featured in ACP. We anticipate the issue will be published in May, 2007. We are seeking papers that (a) provide examples of applied approaches and methodologies, such as but not limited to qualitative approaches, participatory methods, action research, and innovative uses of quantitative methods, and (b) are directly relevant to community psychology research and practice. Commensurate with the spirit of this special issue, papers submitted need not provide illustrations of polished research. We are particularly interested in receiving manuscripts that demonstrate the specific needs of applied research and practice, as well as those that include discussions on how barriers were/might/could not be overcome. For example, authors might * attempt to demystify the applied research and practice they have been or are currently engaged in * provide alternatives to commonly (and often uncritically) accepted methodologies * explore alternative methodologies and new forms of enquiry Review Process All papers submitted will be blind-reviewed by a minimum of two reviewers. Reviewers will be selected on their ability to critically engage with the material presented in the manuscript. Submission of Papers Manuscripts should conform to the requirements of the APA 5th edition.
