Lecturer

 

 

Salary scale: £25,083-£38,068 per annum

 

 

Applicants are invited for the position of Lecturer in Italian (School of Arts), reference 4149

 

The person appointed will actively engage in research and publishing, and will make a substantial contribution to the Italian Department’s submission to RAE 2008. He/she will be expected to develop a significant role in the School’s research activities and to contribute to teaching, assessment and curriculum development at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to administrative and student-support activities. 

 

Candidates should have a Ph.D or equivalent (awarded or near completion) in Italian or a related subject area, and a significant research and publications record (or, in the case of early career candidates, outstanding potential to develop this).  Near native fluency in written and spoken Italian is essential, alongside sufficient proficiency in English to carry out teaching and administration in that language.  Research and teaching interests in any field of Italian Studies since 1860, and/or an ability to play a leading part in the development of language teaching might be an advantage. Previous teaching/administrative experience at tertiary/university level is desirable, but not essential.
