Dear Mr. Morris --

Further to your recent inquiry, in 1989 the (unfortunately now defunct) U.S.
Bureau of Mines published a very good compilation entitled Nonferrous Metal
Prices in the United States through 1988. There are data, in U.S. cents per
pound, from 1850 through 1988. Data are given in both average annual price as
well as in constant 1987 dollars. Please advise if you'd like me to fax the
tabulation to you.

Anybody on the list know what the annual average £Sterling price per ton
(“long ton”) of copper metal has been since 1976 to date; or know where I
can get that information without having to pay exorbitant subscriptions to
specialist web sites? I need this information in connection with current
research into two historic copper mining districts in Ireland.

Thanks if you can help,

John Morris,
