medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate at the Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH) to co-ordinate the AHRC funded Interdisciplinary Research Training Network. 

CRASSH has been awarded funds from the AHRC to develop an Interdisciplinary Research Training Network (IRTN) that aims to coordinate and develop provision of training for post-graduate researchers undertaking interdisciplinary work within the fields of literary, cultural, material and inter-media studies in the Arts and Humanities. Led by CRASSH the IRTN will link 15 institutions with partner/associate status and will provide an ongoing national programme of collaborative interdisciplinary research training. The Network will involve the dissemination, exchange, and archiving of online interdisciplinary teaching and learning materials, comprising four core elements: 

A two-year programme of interdisciplinary day workshops hosted at CRASSH and partner HEIs; 
Student-led seminars hosted by participating HEIs, run by post graduate researchers; 
Online virtual research and learning environment (VRLE) providing collaboration, communication, permanent access to archived materials, and personal webspace for researchers; 
Collaborative inter-institutional student-led conferences during the two-year programme at participating HEIs. 
Duties of the role 

Assist in setting up a programme of workshops to be hosted at CRASSH and by partner institutions; 
Setup of CamTools VLRE; 
Creation and uploading of materials, posting of materials and monitoring of VLRE; 
Training of institutional representatives in use of VLRE; 
Liaison with CRASSH publicist to arrange publicity for VLRE; 
Set up and maintain database of interdisciplinary research training provision; 
Arrange schedule of meetings of the Network's Steering Group. 
Applicants should have knowledge and experience of the training needs of PhD graduate students. They should possess excellent communication and organisational skills. A PhD in an arts/humanities discipline and experience of interdisciplinary research are desirable. They should be independent and innovative and have the ability to work with a variety of people in a busy environment. The post holder will work with the Director of the Centre, Professor Mary Jacobus.
