The Department of Earth Science at Bergen University seeks a PhD student or Post-Doctoral researcher, see the advertisement below. Please respond to Prof [log in to unmask] (not to the list) Note very close deadline for application. ********************************************************************* PhD or Postdoctoral Fellow position in Lithosphere Extension-Inversion Tectonics The Geodynamics Group at Bergen University, Norway, is looking for a PhD candidate or Postdoctoral fellow in the field of Lithosphere Extension-Inversion Tectonics. Project description A PhD (4 years) or Postdoctoral Fellow (3 years) position in Lithosphere Extension and Inversion Tectonics is available within the Geodynamics Group, Department of Earth Sciences, University of Bergen. The position involves one or more of the following research themes: 1) the use of numerical models for both general/generic and case study problems of the thermo-mechanics of extension and inversion tectonics, particularly in the context of regional studies of passive continental margins; 2) the use of numerical models to study processes related to localization of deformation; and 3) the application of the numerical model results to case studies of sedimentary basin and passive margin formation processes from offshore Norway. The core software will be based on modern computational solid and fluid dynamics using finite element techniques.
