Dear Colleagues

The IAT has decided the Country Guidance Cases in Hamid et ors. The full judgement can be found at
http://www.ait.gov.uk/practice_directions/documents/00062_ukait_2006_hgmo_cg.doc

In short, the judgement states that asylum-seekers from Darfur who apply for international protection in the UK may be returned to Sudan through Khartoum on the basis that it is not 'unduly harsh' to do so. There are exceptional circumstances in which people from Darfur should not be sent back to Sudan, however.
