Dear All, This will probably get filed somewhere between 'helping someone-else's students' and 'more institutional promotion' but here goes ... Each year students on the MA in Cultural Geography at Royal Holloway are able to undertake a collaborative web project. Some recent examples are at: www.gg.rhul.ac.uk/ma/web-projects.html The Cultureville one is a nice resource for first years or even prospective students (it was written to a brief of explaining Cultural Geography to sixth formers), while last year's Soundscape of London won a project prize from the Landscape Research Group. This year's group are experimenting with creative writing and the city - specifically using a map of the London Underground as a framework for recording memories, poems, short stories or other located responses to London. They are advertising to a range of publics beyond the academy, but I said that I'd promote through academic contacts. So if you do feel the urge for a little creative writing between the next paper and the holiday postcards, the address is: www.wikimapping.co.uk See Old Street or Brixton for stations with stories If successful the site will be kept and plumbed into the main MA website with a new URL. Thanks for reading this far - enjoy your (northern) summer.
