Hi I didn't find out the identity of the moderator, but it is possible to email them on:
[log in to unmask]
 
Essentially, the person I emailed at JISC said the list can be maintained should the moderator decide to close it, as long as CILIP don't mind their name being used.
Also, if they did object, the name could simply be changed, although I am guessing this may affect how people use the list (links to the list, email address etc.)

Who is the moderator (if anyone) of the list?  Who asks for the change of name?

Hi

I emailed [log in to unmask] enquiring about the status of lis-link and lis-cilip, and if they could be retained should CILIP wish to close them, the answer I got is below...   It seems as simple as we as list users, requesting that JISCMAIL transfer ownership of the lists to a new moderator, should the existing named owner(s) decide to close the list(s). They also said it is possible to re-name lis-cilip.

So there is a way of retaining the lists should CILIP decide to close them.

If as you say, the majority of the list users wish to keep these two lists running, then we wouldn't wish to close them, and in fact, CILIP are not registered owners of the lists. It may be a good idea to re-name
lis-cilip in some way, if CILIP object to their name being used, and I can see that this has been suggested by list members.
Please contact both lists' owners at the [log in to unmask] , and then get back to me.  If they are happy to continue as owners, then that is fine, but if not, we will need a new owner from an ac.uk domain to take over.
