I'm all for short, but why breezy? I require open, honest, informative and
timely. I do not need to be patronised.

One change that is under discussion is that I should write a short and
breezy "view from the chair" summary of council business which would go into
Update. I couldn't do it for the last meeting because of unusual pressure
of day-job work but it's on the cards. I'd be interested to hear people's
views on this (which could be extended to other standing committees) on- or
off-list. It will make a change from the 50 out of office messages that
will fall like tropical hail when I hit SEND in a second.

Indeed there were. One easy, quick and inexpensive solution would be to use
the website to provide much more information about Council, Exectuive Board
and committee proceedings. At the moment all one can see is the most minimal
information, the minutes, without any of the papers presented, and these
only appear months after the meeting.

Communication would seem to be the key - when the change in subscriptions
(which
I note seems to have done nothing to halt the slide in membership as it was

some calls for better communication of council business using either the
gazette or the update?
