Hi The Centre for Disability Studies would be pleased to consider enquiries from suitably qualified international candidates for this competition. You should have a relevant and recent PhD in disability studies, strong evidence of early career achievement in the field, and a proposal for a research visit of at least two months in 2007-8 that fits closely with any aspect of the Centre's current research strengths (see www.leeds.ac.uk/disability-studies) The University of Leeds provides outstanding facilities for selected visiting international scholars but is unable to support all such requests from its own resources. This is therefore an excellent opportunity to bid for financial support (see below). Best wishes Mark British Academy Fellowships are designed for early-career postdoctoral scholars. Applicants must have obtained their doctorates after 1 January 2001. It is the Academy's intention to give a higher priority to candidates from countries where financial resources to support visits to the UK are not readily available, and to candidates who have not already had the opportunity to work in the UK. The scheme enables early-career scholars from overseas to apply, in conjunction with their UK hosts, for research visits to the UK of at least two months. The main purpose of the visit should be to enable the visitor to pursue research. The UK host undertakes to make all the necessary practical and administrative arrangements for the visit. The Academy grants the title of British Academy Visiting Fellow and awards funding for the visit. Closing Date 15 November 2006 for visits to take place during the financial year 1 April 2007 to 31 March 2008.
